Chapter 2: The Frozen Village

Rowan landed in a village identical to Evermere.

But everything was frozen.

People stood motionless in the streets.

Snow hung in the air without falling.

Then a girl appeared.

“You shouldn’t be here.”

“Where’s my sister?”

The girl stared.

“What’s her name?”

“Ella.”

The girl went pale.

“Ella?”

She pointed toward the village square.

Rowan saw his sister.

She was standing beside a frozen fountain.

But she was smiling.

“Rowan!”

She ran toward him.

He hugged her.

“What happened?”

Ella pointed at the frozen villagers.

“They were waiting.”

“For what?”

“For us.”
