Chapter 1: The Impossible Watch

Theo Bell was good at fixing clocks.

He was terrible at leaving them alone.

That was why his master had forbidden him from opening the locked drawer beneath the workshop counter.

Naturally, Theo opened it.

Inside was a pocket watch.

It was completely black.

No numbers decorated its face.

Instead, there was a tiny glass window showing a burning building.

Theo frowned.

The building looked familiar.

Then he recognized it.

Bellhaven City Hall.

The watch suddenly clicked.

A date appeared.

Seven days from today.

Theo dropped it.

The image vanished.

He picked it up again.

The watch was ordinary.

Except for one thing.

The second hand was moving backward.
