Chapter 2: The Girl Who Knew Too Much

Theo showed the watch to nobody.

That lasted three hours.

Then a girl climbed through his workshop window.

“Give me the watch.”

Theo grabbed a wrench.

“Who are you?”

“Someone trying to keep you alive.”

She introduced herself as Liora.

She claimed the watch belonged to her father, a royal engineer who disappeared five years ago.

“He invented it.”

“What does it do?”

“It shows possible futures.”

Theo looked at the watch.

“Possible?”

“Not every future happens.”

“Then why should I worry?”

“Because every future it has shown has happened.”

Theo’s hands went cold.

Liora pointed toward City Hall.

“Someone is going to destroy Bellhaven.”

“Who?”

She looked at him.

“That’s what we’re going to discover.”
